You guys, I learned the most amazing thing camping last weekend with Salem. YOU CAN BOIL OMELETSSSSSS!!!! Did you hear that? Don’t believe me? Read on for the how to.
So this is pretty easy actually, you just need to pre-cook the meats you want to offer, and this whole thing will be done like an omelet bar.
In addition to your ingredients you’ll want a few quart or gallon sized ziploc bags and a sharpie marker.
So now that you’ve got your fixin’s here’s what you’ll do. Begin by writing each person’s name on a ziploc bag. If you’re doing this while camping you’ll want to go ahead and set a pot of water to boil on your fire or camp stove. You need a good rolling boil for this so do that however far in advance you need.
Its best if you have a cute doggie watching on while you cook….
I mean look at this face.
But seriously…..on to the cooking.
You want to start with the eggs. Crack at least two and preferably three into your ziploc bag. Don’t scramble or do anything yet, just crack them in there.
After you’ve cracked your eggs into your bag you’ll add your fixings, whatever and however much you want. Remember at this point your meat is cooked already, don’t try this at home with uncooked meat ha!
Just keep on til everything you want is present in the bag.
OK this is seriously the best part….are you ready? Your kids are gonna love this. Its time to use your hands and squish the heck out of the bag. You want to break the yolk and squish the eggs all around, mixing everything together like crazy! Its kinda awesome.
Now that all your ingredients are well mixed, stick all your bags in your pot of boiling water for 10-12 minutes (depending on how well done you like your eggs, we did 12!).
Once your 10-12 minutes are up remove the bags carefully from the boiling water. We did use gloves because they were pretty hot. We let the bags sit a few minutes outside on our picnic table.
Once your omelet is cook you can dump it out of the bag and eat. And that’s seriously all you need to do!
This may be the very easiest camping breakfast we ever had! You’ll never believe how light and fluffy the eggs turn out cooked this way. Enjoy guys!
