Hey all! Happy Thursday! I’m so excited its nearly the weekend. I haven’t shown y’all a picture of my front yard because most of it is ripped to shreds….the plants we ordered shipped today (YAY!) so we should get that all planted this weekend. I could not be more thrilled, because that means that at least from the front it won’t look like we’re yard slackers
In the mean time May and June are huge months for us in terms of anniversaries and birthdays. Jason’s family has four in May, I have a couple of friends and then my entire family (plus our anniversary and my parents’) is in June. Suffice to say we are working on lots of gifts lately. I suppose its a good thing our plants haven’t arrived yet haha ;0) I’ve made pretty good progress on my people presents!
Salem’s birthday was this week and she needed something handmade of course. She always liked our Cow Tablet and she loves pigs sooooo VOILA!
The Husbeast and I followed the same method as the Cow Tablet but made the pig much longer and wider with a deeper shelf to hold cookbooks. The shelf is tall enough to hold a cookbook open which I thought she would use. Instead of painting it like the cow we used a beautiful stain and just wiped it off to let the wood grain show through…..
We let it dry and then sprayed a satin clear coat on it and it was ready to gift!
Jason added a little wire curly cue tail and we gave it to her the day we saw her this week
I thought it might be fun for some of you guys to see this version. I got lots of emailed suggestions of other animals we could make tablets out of after the Cow Post ;0)
Happy weekend, wish me a happy planting y’all!
